Kentucky at Duke
College basketball season starts tonight and the top game of the night is Kentucky vs Duke. This is a neutral site game in Indianapolis, so no home court advantage in this one.
The Kentucky Wildcats have returning sophomores Nick Richards and PJ Washinton and added recruits such as Ashton Hagans, Immanuel Quickley and EJ Montgomery. No surprise here that the Wildcats are a favorite to win the NCAA Championship at odds 6/1.
The only team with better current odds to win it all is the Duke Blue Devils at 4/1. Duke enters this game with freshman sensation Zion Williamson, and this kid is an absolute beast. His senior year highlight film is one of the most impressive that you’ll see. Zion also has counterpart, RJ Barrett, who was the top recruit coming into this season. Arguably, he is a better talent than Zion, just isn’t getting as much hype as Zion due to Zion’s highlights.

The total for this game is 157, and that is one of the highest totals of the day. Kentucky is currently favorited by -1.5 points, so close to a toss up in this game.

Season openers in college basketball games such as this can be tough, especially considering all the new pieces in place by both teams. Both coaches are obviously experienced so this one is tough to bet on. I am going to go with Duke in this one as they will have the advantage in the paint. If Kentucky guards the paint well, this will force Duke to shoot from the perimeter, and this would give the advantage to the Wildcats. I lean with Duke in this one but regardless, expect an entertaining game.
