The Jaguars head to Tennessee to take on the Titans in this installment of Thursday Night Football. Titans won their last game 26-22 against the New York Jets. They struggled in the first half, especially on offense, but turned it around in the 2nd half, scoring 20 points.
Jags are coming off a 6-0 win against the Colts. Offensively, the Jaguars struggled but backup quarterback Cody Kessler didn’t turn the ball over and managed the game well. This needs to be the recipe for success tonight if the Jags want to beat the Titans.
Kessler finished the game completing 75 percent of his passes for 150 yards. With Leonard Fournette back after serving his one game suspension, Jags will look to control the clock and keep the score low, relying on their defense. If it becomes a higher scoring game, I don’t see the Jags winning and would be shocked if they scored over 3 TDs.
BETTING THE THURSDAY NIGHT GAME
Vegas predicts that the Titans win win by -5.5 points at home. Vegas also thinks that the total score of this game will be 37 points (scored by both teams). These two teams played earlier this year (9/23), and the final was 9-6, with the Titans winning. Jags were favored by -9.5 in that one and obviously did not cover. The easy pick tonight in the Titans at home against the back up QB. Let’s take a deeper look at the trends.
- Titans are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 Thursday games.
- Titans are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games as a favorite.
- Titans are 12-4-1 ATS in their last 17 home games.
- Titans are 15-33-3 ATS vs. a team with a losing record
- Jaguars are 7-2-1 ATS in their last 10 games as a road underdog.
- Jaguars are 16-5-1 ATS in their last 22 games as an underdog of 3.5-10.0.
- Jaguars are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games in December.
- Jaguars are 0-3-1 ATS in their last 4 road games.
ATS stands for against the spread.
WHO TO PICK?
Thursday night games are by far the hardest games in cap in all of regular season sports. This is due to minimal rest time and game plan preparation by the teams playing. The trend that speaks volumes to me in this match-up, is the Titans record on Thursday nights and as a favorite. The Jaguars are the underdog and have little pressure coming into this one with a back-up QB. I would play the under of 37 as well if you like to bet on the over/under. Pick- Jaguars +5.5
