Derrick Rose away from Cavs, evaluating future in NBA

Cleveland Cavaliers’ PG Derrick Rose is reportedly spending time away from the team and is evaluating his future in basketball – considering retirement, essentially. Rose has dealt with an ankle injury for the majority of this month and hasn’t played since November 7, leaving the Cavaliers without their top two point guards as Isaiah Thomas continues to recover. Rose, the 2010-2011 MVP, has dealt with injury after injury since tearing his ACL in 2012, and his play has fallen off as a result. Still, he’s just 29. Rose also had an incident that is still largely explained this past January in which he failed to show up for a game he was slated to start with the Knicks. It’s unclear whether a retirement is imminent.
